Why is it called a ‘mega-farm’?
Midland Pig Producers is applying to build an indoor pig factory farm on a green field site near the village of Foston, Derbyshire. If the plans are approved it would be one of the largest factory farms in the UK, containing 2,500 mother pigs (sows) and around 25,000 pigs.
Below is a graph showing average pig farm sizes in England in relation to the number of pigs that will be housed indoors in the proposed Foston factory pig farm:

(’Very large’ farms are currently the largest category of pig farm acknowledged by DEFRA)
TAKE ACTION - Please help us reach our target of 25,000 objections – that’s one objection for every pig to be confined inside this factory farm.
