Discussions include: The place of the pig in the traditional Romanian household, the rituals surrounding the pig’s slaughter before Christmas and its centrality in the Romanian food system, the endangered Romanian pig breeds and why it is important to salvage them, the life of small producers confronted with legislation and with the big industry and the impact of pig factories on the environment.
